GET TO KNOW JASON

IMG_0823.JPEG

Jason's daughter was born here in Bend, and is the fifth-generation in his  family to call Oregon home. Jason’s upbringing in a union and military family in a small Oregon timber town shaped his commitment to caring for others. He has dedicated his life to public service and to improving our state.

A proud product of Oregon’s public schools, Jason has spent his career working hard to make our communities safe and just. Jason began his career as a public defender and now serves Deschutes County as a Deputy District Attorney.

His experience on both sides of the justice system has shown him firsthand the ways our laws impact the real lives of Oregonians. Solving Oregon’s biggest challenges will take hard work, dedication, and thoughtful engagement. That’s why Jason has rolled up his sleeves to serve our community at every turn. He currently serves on a number of local boards, including serving children in crisis on the Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Central Oregon board, and working to protect our natural spaces on the Bend Park and Recreation Board. Since 2003, Jason has volunteered as a mock trial coach, and he coaches recreational soccer here in Bend.

But Jason knows his most important job is as a father to his daughter, who is growing up in Bend and attending our public schools. In his spare time, Jason, his wife, Anne, and their daughter love exploring the natural areas in Central Oregon: hiking and biking on our trails and swimming in our lakes and rivers.
